The Role

As our new Software Development Manager, you will be part of our development team, working closely with colleagues in product management and marketing. You will report directly to our Chief Operating Officer and be focused on managing and measuring the company’s development projects and resources. You will plan and implement strategies for new and existing products in development, ensuring releases are developed to specification, on time, to budget and within quality limits. Although you will be leading a team, it is essential that you have hands-on experience as a developer and with project management.

Responsibilities

Project manage the delivery of software products through the entire development lifecycle to release.
Ensure the team has appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively.
Establish realistic estimates for timelines while ensuring that projects remain on target to meet hard deadlines.
Resource Management for current projects and future pipeline.
Monitor individual employees’ performance and identify and deal with training and development issues.
Act as the central point of contact for other departments on development project statuses, including reporting on progress and status against plan to the Product Manager and Senior Management when required.
Responsible for release management/version control and ensuring release notes for each version are documented. Version control of documentation must be tied in with software versions.
Implementation of software development and product development processes, practices and tools. Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, milestones & deliverables
Being an adviser and influencer for software and product development methods across the organisation.
Own the full project life cycle: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously
Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead development team members to their optimum performance. Hire and train new software developers.
Assess, record & mitigate risks / dependencies against program on-time delivery, quality &/or budget
Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions, evaluations and assessment of results

The Ideal Candidate

Meticulous. Exceptional attention to detail.
Experience in project managing large projects and/or a portfolio of multiple projects simultaneously
Previous experience in iGaming industry (preferred)
Outstanding problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to detect and avoid potential issues threatening to delay the timeline or impact operations
High sense of responsibility and a can-do attitude and uses own initiative to manage on a day-to-day basis
Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and influence decisions that enhance organisational effectiveness
Awareness of/proficiency in the core technologies and programming languages we use: Java Spring MariaDB / MySQL DB / PostgresSQL DB / MongoDB Amazon AWS, Mircloud (Jelastic) Docker, Hibernate (QueryDsl / JPA), React, AngularJS, PrimeFaces JIRA & Confluence Nginx, Linux Github Wordpress / PHP
